  "Herps" is the vernacular word for reptiles or amphibians, so you dont have to say "Reptiles and Amphibians".      It comes from the Greek word "Herpetology", that means "things that crawl" and is concerned with poikilothermic, 
ectothermic tetrapods, or so they say.

Ptyas korros. First discovered by Schlegel in 1837, this is a largish non-venomous quite common snake in Hong Kong - . often seen in water. This chappy was very happy swimming along, occasionally trying to bite my hand with the camera held next to his head....
